Ellen Howard

Ellen Howard is the Lead Legal Counsel (Privacy and Product) for Privacy and Business Operations at Canva, where she leads a team that advises Canva’s internal-facing business functions including People, Security, Global Risk and Compliance, IT, Infrastructure and Platform, Legal, and Finance and Procurement on privacy, data governance, and responsible AI implementation.

She holds several certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, including CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/M, CIPT, and AIGP, and is admitted to practice law in both Australia and the United States. Prior to joining Canva, Ellen served as General Counsel and Privacy Officer for the ATI Global Software Group which includes LEAP Legal Software, and before that, as Senior Legal Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at Quantium.
